1. 2012 Aurora Shooting

On July 20, 2012, a mass shooting occurred in Aurora, Colorado. While watching the movie, the dark knight rises, a man by the name of James Holmes, entered the theater heavily armed. There, he shot and injured 58 people and killed 12. On July 7th, James purchased a ticket to the midnight premiere of the movie. Then on July 19th, James left the theater through the emergency exit, while leaving the door propped open. After going to his vehicle, he then collected his weapon and proceeded back into the theater. 18 minutes into the movie, he open fires on the audience. He was described to be in protective, ballistic gear, and armed with heavy artillery. After being reprehended, he pleaded not guilty dealt to reasons of medical insanity.
2. Boston Marathon Bombings

On April 15th, 2013, a series of shootings and bombings took place at the boston marathon. At about 2:49 pm EDT, two pressure cooker bombs went off. The bombs exploded near the finish line, which was Boylston Street, 12 seconds and 210 yards apart. This killed 3 people and injured nearly 256. After investigation of the FBI, the two suspects were Chechen brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev. After realizing images, these two suspects killed officers and created a firefight between them and the FBI. Tamerlan was shot several times and was also ran over by his brother during the escape.
